Art
Art is strongly encouraged in all of our classrooms as well as outdoors. From rock painting to nature weaving, our children are exposed to various forms of creative outlets.
Music
Music is an amazing way to stimulate little minds and encourage healthy brain development. Through use of different age-appropriate musical instruments, our littles are introduced to instruments from around the world.
Social-Emotional
Through use of puppets and other manipulatives, our teachers help children understand their emotions and how to cope with their emotions in different situations. These life skills will help children get along better with their peers, while also building self-esteem and self-awareness.
Language
Our infant program teaches essential sign language so our staff and babies can effectively communicate. Our Toddler and Preschool program increasingly introduce Spanish with our core curriculum. With use of posters, books, puppets and imaginative play elements, our children are developing their language skills on a daily basis.
Mathematics
Through the use of fun, educational math toys, we introduce math skills at varying levels throughout the program. Infants and toddlers begin to learn colors, textures, shapes, and numbers through toys, games and puzzles while implementing Reggio Emilia teaching practices. Our preschoolers are more challenged with use of multiple math manipulatives that introduce number concepts by comparing, measuring and classifying objects. Our 4/5 classroom introduces addition and subtraction, graphs and patterns.
Outside Play
With over half an acre of fenced-in land, we have ample space for our children to thrive in our outdoor learning and playing environments. We have two edible learning gardens where children are stimulated by smells, textures and tastes. Twice a month, we have a Farmer's Market hosted by The Yolo Food Bank where our children can "shop" for produce with play money and take their food home at the end of the day. Our miniature outdoor amphitheater is the perfect spot to hold plays and puppet shows. From catching bugs and gardening to riding bikes and climbing on play structures, our outdoor space is designed for endless fun and learning.
